Ambervale
The short version
Two values are kept whatever you decide: one remembers that you answered the age question, the other remembers your answer to the cookie notice. Everything else waits for your permission and loads nothing until it has it.
What we mean by cookie
Loosely, as the notice does: both classic cookies and the local storage entries that browsers offer. Our own two values use local storage, which means they sit on your device and are not sent to our server with each request. The analytics and advertising items are ordinary cookies set by Google.
Necessary storage
- amv_age_confirmed – holds the answer you gave at the age gate, so the gate does not appear again on every page. Kept until you clear the storage for this site.
- amv_consent – holds your answer to this notice. Without it the notice would ask you again on every page. Kept until you clear the storage for this site.
Neither can be switched off, because without them the site cannot act on choices you have already made. Neither holds a name, an email address or any identifier.
Analytics, with permission
- Google Analytics 4 (_ga, _ga_<id>) – counts visits and sessions and shows which pages are actually read. Typical lifetime two years.
Advertising measurement, with permission
- Google Ads (_gcl_au, _gcl_aw) – tells us whether a click on one of our advertisements led to somebody reading about the bedrooms or writing to reception. Typical lifetime ninety days.
Both run under Google Consent Mode v2. Before you answer the notice every category is set to denied in the page head, so the tags are present but write nothing. Choosing Necessary only keeps them in that state for good.
Changing your mind
Use at the foot of any page and answer again; the new answer replaces the old one at once. Clearing this site's storage in your browser also works, and resets the age question with it.
Blocking cookies in your browser
Any current browser can block or delete cookies and site storage, usually under Privacy, Cookies or Site settings. Blocking everything leaves these pages working normally, with one consequence: the age gate and this notice will greet you on every visit, because nothing will be left to remember your answers.
What is not used here
No social network pixels. No advertising network other than Google. No cross-site profiling, no device fingerprinting, no session recording, no heat maps, no third-party video or map embeds, no chat widget. Besides the Google tags described above, the only external resources these pages load are the two typefaces they are set in, served by Google Fonts.
Gambling and this site
Nothing stored in your browser by this site has anything to do with play. The casino at Ambervale is a room in the house, entered in person by adults of 18 or over. These pages run no games, accept no bets and process no payments, so there is no account, no balance and no play history to store.
