Why we ask, and what the door accepts
Nobody enjoys being quizzed on a doorstep. We do it because a casino room sits under the same roof as the bedrooms, and the age rule that governs that room governs how we write about the rest of the house. Confirm you are 18 or over and the pages open.
We will not wave you through.
No one below 18 crosses the threshold of the Orangery Room, and we hold the same line on these pages rather than make an exception that would be nonsense in person. Please look us up again in a year or two. If you are worried about your own gambling, or about somebody at home, there is free and confidential help at gamblingtherapy.org, and meetings through gamblersanonymous.org.
- The minimum age for the casino room is 18, or the higher legal age where local rules require it.
- A passport, national identity card or photocard driving licence satisfies the door. A photograph of a document on a telephone does not.
- Identification is asked for on every visit, however many times you have stayed and however old you look.
- Guests under 18 are welcome in the bedrooms, at every table in the house and in the Bath House at family hours, but never inside the Orangery Room, even beside a parent.
- A casino host will agree a time limit or a spending ceiling with you before you sit down, and arrange a confidential break or self-exclusion whenever you ask.
- What this website is: a description of a land-based hotel and its casino room. It offers no online games, accepts no bets and processes no payments.
