Who publishes this site
These pages are published by the operating company of the Ambervale Casino Hotel, the country house and land-based casino room described on them. Questions about privacy, and requests about your own data, go to [email protected] marked for the data protection contact. A letter addressed to the data protection contact at the hotel reaches the same desk.
What this website is not
There is no booking engine on this site, no guest account to open, no card form and no payment of any kind. We take no wagers, run no games and hold no player balances here. That removes most of the data a hotel website would normally collect, and the sections below describe what is genuinely left.
If you only read the pages
Reading is anonymous as far as we are concerned. No tracking script runs before you answer the cookie notice, and no profile is built from the pages you look at. Two small values may be written into your browser's own storage:
- amv_age_confirmed – records that you answered the age question, so the gate does not reappear on every page.
- amv_consent – records whether you allowed or refused the non-essential cookies.
Both sit on your device, are never transmitted to us with a request, and hold neither a name nor an identifier of any kind. Clearing site data in your browser deletes them.
Server logs
Like any web server, ours notes the request it has just answered: the IP address it came from, the time, the page, the response code, the referring page and the browser's user-agent string. These entries exist to keep the site up and to spot abuse. They are not joined to anything else, are not used for marketing, and are deleted or truncated within thirty days.
When you write to us
Email reaches a mailbox read by reception, and for casino matters by the casino manager. We keep what you sent (your address, your name if you give it, your dates and whatever you tell us about the stay) for as long as the correspondence is live, and then for up to two years in case you write again about the same arrangement. We do not add correspondents to a mailing list. Messages about limits, breaks or self-exclusion are kept apart from ordinary enquiries and shared with nobody beyond the casino manager and the house manager.
Analytics, only with your consent
If you allow it, Google Analytics 4 counts visits and tells us which pages are read and which are ignored. The reports we see are aggregated. If you refuse, the tag stays in its denied state and stores nothing on your device. See the Cookie Policy for the cookie names and lifetimes.
Advertising measurement, only with your consent
We advertise the hotel, with Google Ads among other places. With your consent, Google's advertising cookies let us see whether somebody who clicked an advertisement went on to read about the bedrooms or write to reception. Without your consent none of that measurement happens. We do not build audiences from this site for other advertisers, and we do not advertise gambling to anyone we have reason to think is under 18.
Lawful bases
- Consent for analytics and advertising cookies, and for anything stored on your device beyond the two essential values.
- Legitimate interests for server logs kept to secure the site, and for the two essential storage values, which exist only to honour choices you have already made.
- Performance of a contract, or steps towards one, when we answer your enquiry about a stay, a table or an event.
- Legal obligation where gambling, licensing, accounting or safeguarding rules require us to keep a record. Those records are made at the property, not on this website.
Who else sees it
Our hosting provider stores the files and the logs on our instruction. Our email provider carries the correspondence. Google processes analytics and advertising data where you have consented to it, which may involve transfer outside your own country under the standard contractual clauses Google publishes. Nobody buys this data from us, because we do not sell it.
How long things are kept
- Browser storage values: until you clear them.
- Server logs: thirty days at most.
- Email about a stay or an event: the life of the correspondence, then up to two years.
- Analytics reports: up to fourteen months in aggregate form.
Your rights
You may ask for a copy of what we hold about you, ask for it corrected, ask for it deleted, object to a use based on legitimate interests, ask us to limit what we do with it, or withdraw a consent you gave. Write to [email protected] and we will answer within one month. If our answer disappoints you, the data protection authority where you live will hear a complaint, and we would rather you also told us.
Children
This site is written for adults and the casino room admits nobody under 18. We do not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, tell us and it will be deleted.
Changes
If this policy changes we will replace the date at the head of the page and, for anything significant, say what moved. The current text is always the one published here.
